Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. –Norman Vincent Peale
Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year. It is a time where beauty is all around us. The colourful lights, decorations, and Christmas trees make our streets, shopping malls, houses and communities come alive with the spirit of Christmas. While it is nice to be surrounded by beautiful holiday sights, nothing is better than being surrounded by loved ones. Spending time with family and friends really does make the holidays brighter. Whether you spend the time together playing games, singing carols, hanging decorations, or enjoying delicious home-cooked meals, family and friends add laughter and cheer to any moment of the holiday season.
The holidays also mean that another year is coming to a close. December is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the year that was. As we look back at 2010, we can be thankful that we live in a province with so many blessings, including infinite strength, potential and privilege. Many people and families benefit from the endless opportunities throughout Saskatchewan, but there are also those who are less fortunate. Over the holidays, we are presented with many opportunities to do our part to help those in need. Open up your hearts and your homes and give locally in important ways like food banks or across the world through many worthy organizations. I encourage all of us to give of ourselves, for it is in giving that we receive the best gifts of all.
If you need any other Christmas gift suggestions, Author Oren Arnold offers this:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
